Ring Ready: Lanka Fight League (LFL) Debuts with 16 Elite Boxers Showcasing Sri Lanka's Best

Anticipation is high as the inaugural Lanka Fight League (LFL) event gears up to host ten male and six female boxers tomorrow, the 27th, at the prestigious Royal MAS Arena in Colombo. Organized in collaboration with the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), this historic tournament marks the dawn of the LFL Boxing League, promising an evening of fierce competition and sporting excellence.

Lt. Commodore Chandralal Nanayakkara, former Navy Boxer and co-founder of LFL, spoke eagerly about the partnership with BASL, stating, “We aim to elevate boxing in Sri Lanka through this event and promote the sport globally through innovative formats.” Dian Gomes, President of BASL, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the pivotal role this collaboration plays in advancing Sri Lankan boxing. “We see this as a platform to nurture the nation’s boxing talents,” Gomes affirmed, hinting at plans to expand the league to include foreign boxers in the future.

Emmanuel Murugaiah, another co-founder of LFL, outlined their vision to extend the league to the school level, recognizing its potential to boost tourism and provide opportunities for aspiring athletes.
